My friend and I decided to go for a mountain bike ride at a later time in the day. We took into account the sunset time but did not consider the tree covering that would block the sunlight from lighting the trail. The ride up to the peak was difficult and longer than we expected. When we reached the peak it was completely dark and the ride back down the other side was primarily under the cover of trees that blocked any residual light coming from the city nearby. The lack of lighting significantly affected our ability to see clearly and lowered our visibility to roughly 3 feet. We set out on our way back down the mountain all the while attempting to remain within eye sight of each other to prevent injuries, getting lost, or the possibility of being devoured by a cougar. We made it about 150yds before I fell off the trail and started rolling down the side of the mountain. Fortunately, a large dirt mound prevented me from traveling too far and I was able to climb back up. I was injured but able to continue without assistance. We continued on our way down the mountain stopping occasionally to navigate over structures that seemed impassible by bicycle. We eventually made it back to the paved road and then back to our parked vehicles. It was a moment in which God allowed us to bond over the fight for survival. That mountain threw many obstacles at us and God lead us through them all. "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13; including conquer a treacherous, beast inhabited mountain without the luxury of satisfactory lighting.

Recently I had the opportunity to attend a wedding of a long time friend. Standing there watching his bride come down the aisle, I had somewhat of a movie flashback. I briefly experienced some of the great times and some of the hard times we have been through together throughout our friendship. One specific moment that stood out from the rest was when my friend dedicated his life to Christ. It was a time of immeasurable celebration. As his bride continued to walk toward him, I realized this moment was to be celebrated just like the other. My best friend of many years now has a new best friend, one that he will spend the rest of his life with. I was happy to pass the torch and celebrate along with God for the union they entered into. I give thanks to Christ for displaying true commitment and showing us how to love unselfishly.

Over the past few weeks I was able to travel to California and see some of my closest friends in the world. It was such a refreshing time to see old faces that I care deeply about. Throughout the trip I was constantly reminded just how important friendship is in a person's life, and how God honors a friendship when it is pure and Godly. So I just want to say thank you to God for blessing me with such wonderful people in my life. It is truly amazing!

I think every Christian at some point has an encounter with God that affirms God in a living and tangable way. My moment was with a childhood friend more than ten years ago. She had been through some difficult times and had different beliefs than myself. We were mainly catching up, when I casually mentioned that sometimes lights flicker or go out when I enter a room. It began to bother me, so I had been praying for God to take this fear, to not allow Satan to play with my mind. The strange occurrences continued...she immediately wanted to perform a Wiccan ritual with me to see if someone had put a spell/bind on me. I knew that God was pulling at my heart, but I didn't want to hurt her feelings and I justified it as a way to reach out to her and share my faith in a new way. As you can imagine a few minutes into caling spirits, my heart was racing and The Holy Spirit was now screaming at me to turn from this sin and pray. Something, unsure of what exactly scared me that I flew up blew out a candle and grabbed my friend and drug her out of the room. We were not alone in there and as I shut that door I knew that we had invited a presence into my parents home that only God could remove. She was, I think, angry with me for "breaking the circle" I held her hands and began to pray. As I did a presence tried to pull her from me, and at the same time I felt the protection from God and the strength to clutch her hands. God interceded for me, I do not remember any words from my mouth, but we melted to the kitchen floor weeping. Our eyes were closed and light filled the room, intense heat came from my hand, and it was an incredible gift. This is one of my most precious memories, other than giving birth it is the closest I have ever felt to my Lord and Savior. Thanks to Facebook, I have reconnected with my old friend and I asked her if she remembered this moment. She wrote me, " I totally remember...there was this crazy heat coming off of our hands... :) Wow..." Thanks "A" for sharing this with me I think about you often, I will never stop praying for you! Praying with someone else always blesses both!

God used a piece of work like me to help a friend by simply bringing him cookies when he lost a loved one.

In the midst of a rough day, I became instantly surrounded by friends reminding me that no matter what my struggles are, God will always be with me. It's so easy to continue on with life neglecting to remember that it's bigger and more profound than the fears and doubts the come day-to-day. It is in the darkness that God shines so brightly!
